The Cape

A serious highlight of May was our almost annual Memorial Day weekend getaway to the Cape with a good friend of ours.  The weather was stunning, we swapped tables with Julian Edelman, and did lots of relaxing!

Tory Row 5K

We signed up for another 5K this spring.  With my back acting up, and getting little sleep during the month of May, it wasn't my best showing, but it was a fun race.  Tory Row had a pre-race bib pick up party complete with free food and drinks.  The after party was in the parking lot across from Border Cafe and featured a really fun dj.  The race itself was beautiful, running straight down Brattle Street and through Huron Village.  It's definitely a race I would like to run again, if I can regain my 5K mojo and confidence.

Roof Decks are Always the Right Answer

Somewhere around mid-May I started to break.  My schedule was insane and it was catching up to me.  I was feeling like I had no time to have fun and my back was acting up again.  Instead of going climbing one night, JO suggested we enjoy the beautiful spring night in Harvard Square.  He was a man on a mission, leading us directly to Daedalus.  We were fortunate to get a table on the roof deck and the rest is history!

My stress melted away as I enjoyed the roof deck.  Every now and then, I need some city in my life stat.  Even though we're real Cantabridgians now, I still worry that we aren't taking advantage of the city enough.  When I feel like I'm too busy to go out, to walk around, it makes me anxious, like I'm wasting this amazing opportunity I've been given.  It was so nice to get back in the city and just be City Vicky for the night!

Take a Hike

Every now and then you need to take a day trip to New Hampshire and hike a mountain.  After our desert road trip I had the hiking bug.  Only problem, I only had one free weekend day from the beginning of May to the end of June.  Seriously, I'm not sure how I made it to summer vacation standing.

Luckily, that one free day was gorgeous and we took advantage by going for a hike at Gunstock Mountain.

Of course, after a hike you have to do a little lake side relaxing!

You Know What's Super Fun

Getting to meet one of your favorite author's at a book tour event!

What made it even better...getting to be in the city on a beautiful weekday evening!

Aeronaut Brewery

We started, for a very brief amount of time, trying to go climbing on a more regular basis during May.  I'm not sure what I was thinking since my May was insanely busy but I gave it a shot.  After a climbing session one night we decided to pop into Aeronaut, since it's located right next door to our gym.  We checked this place out a while back, after it first opened, and were intrigued.  We never made it back though and that's a shame.

Aeronaut has only gotten better with time.  The brewery side is open and airy with an industrial feel to it.  The bar area is really nice and there are lots of picnic tables that you can sit at.  We saw lots of people playing German board games and pretty much enjoying their "living room away from home."  We were lucky to be there when a grilled cheese food stand was there.  We grabbed a couple of sandwiches, sampled some of the new brews, and pretty much loved every minute of our visit.  We loved it so much that we headed back a few more times in May.  In fact, I realize as I'm writing this, that we haven't been back recently.  We'll have to fix that :-)

MayFair

One of my favorite spring traditions is MayFair in Harvard Square!  It's a sure fire sign that summer vacation is fast approaching.  After such a cold and snowy winter it was nice to be able to celebrate sunny weather in the Square.  One of the highlights of this year's MayFair was a concert by Freeze Pop!
