Fun Weekend Festivities

I love long weekends. They are even fun in the summer because that means my non-teaching friends are around for an extra day.

This weekend was full of birthday celebrations, couch shopping, Harvard Square, and the fireworks! We hit up The Bell In Hand Tavern for a good friend's birthday Friday night. The people watching in Faneuil Hall is always fun but it was certainly bumped up a notch Friday night due to the Lady Gaga concert.

Saturday was a gorgeous, summer day. It was a bit warm but not humid at all. We headed into the Square to settle up our March Madness bet. We had to wait for a gorgeous day to enjoy the large floor to ceiling windows at Sandrine's Bistro. Sandrine's is a French Bistro style restaurant in the Square. I had the snails as an appetizer and they were all smothered in butter, garlic, and parsley... just the way I like them! The large windows are a great feature of this restaurant. It takes a great "winter" restaurant and transforms it into a "summer" treat.

Sunday was all about the fireworks. We met up with friends at Tavern In the Square for dinner before walking down to Memorial Drive to see the fireworks. I love that we can walk from our apartment to the fireworks. Dealing with the T and that many people isn't my idea of fun. The fireworks were great and being with such great friends just reminded me how lucky I am!

Now I'm currently holed up in my bedroom in an effort to not melt in the ridiculous heat and humidity! I hate weather like this because I get trapped in my apartment and can't take advantage of the city!
