I'd been looking forward to this Ellie Buckland show at Club Passim for a while. I wasn't able to go to the Lula Wiles show earlier in the month so I was extra excited for this show. I love Tuesday shows at Passim. JO has something on Tuesday nights so I tend to stay home and do school work and that's not really very fun.😃 Tuesday shows are a great way to make the school week go by faster and this one didn't disappoint.
Aurora Birch opened for Ellie and she was simply mesmerizing. Her music seems influenced by The Cranberries is, in one word, haunting. Ellie said Aurora's album was her favorite of last year and I'd have to agree. It's been on constant repeat in my car for two weeks now. I was sad to hear she's moving to the Mid-West but I'm hoping she'll be back at Club Passim at some point.
Ellie put on a great show. She was accompanied by an electric guitarist and I think this was a perfect fit for her. We've seen her with an electric synthesizer before and I didn't love that. This worked much better. She played mostly new songs and I really liked them. This was her best solo show yet and I'm really looking forward to her album that she is working on.
To close out the show, Ellie and Aurora came down off the stage to sing Haunt Me. Haunting indeed.
