Christmas Tree Challenge~ Seaport Style

A few years ago, JO and I started the "Christmas Tree Challenge" as a way to enjoy the holiday season.  We go all over the city, visiting hotels to get our picture with their trees and of course, visiting the outdoor displays as well.  Each year we try to expand the Challenge so this year we decided to check out the Seaport for the first night of the Challenge!  We even had a few friends that joined us for the fun!

We started with dinner at Rosa Mexicano.  I had really wanted to go to Babo Pizzeria e Enoteca but it was totally booked.  Actually, everything seemed to be booked so all we had left was Rosa Mexicano.  I was a little disappointed but Rosa really ended up being quite fun.  It's less Margarita's and more Ole.  The margarita was one of the best I've ever had and the food was delicious!  The atmosphere was fun and it there was just enough "buzz" going on to make you feel like you were out in the city but not so much that you couldn't hear each other at the table.

After dinner we headed next door to a parking garage that had a lovely tree!  The attendant probably thought we were really odd!

We stopped to check out some of the fun sculptures that are scattered around the neighborhood.

The outdoor tree in the Seaport is quite lovely and I couldn't resist a picture with the candy cane!

We tried to go to Envoy but you had to go through security (because of their igloos on the roof deck) just to access the lobby.)  Yotel was a bust because they didn't even bother with a Christmas display.

We walked out of the Seaport and made our way to the Boston Harbor Hotel.  They had a pretty display (but really boring bars.)

We headed over to the Intercontinental because we knew we could count on their lobby bar.  They one the Challenge for day 1 with their outdoor display

and several indoor displays

including this awesome "modern" tree with tiers made out of gingerbread houses, trees, retro trucks and airstream trailers, nutcrackers, and other fun stuff!  They get major bonus points for creativity.

It was a really fun way to kick off the month of December!  We had plans to go back out on the Challenge this past weekend but because December is the most exhausting time of year for teachers I chose to curl up on the couch and go to bed at 8:00.  Fingers crossed we can beat the rain this weekend and get back to the Challenge!
