It was the beginning of June and I had managed to survive the month of May. My calendar was calming down, my weekend school work diminishing, and summer vacation was coming into sight. As a teacher, May is a slog, but once you get to June it's a huge relief. Everything gets a bit easier (don't get me wrong, the amount of stuff you have to get done in June is insane, but it's June and you know it will be coming to an end) and I can definitely focus on city fun a bit more.
A show at Club Passim was a perfect way to celebrate the start of June and what better artists to go see. Isa Burke, one third of Lula Wiles, opened the show. Isa is super funny and she sang a few new songs that were really good.
Mark Erelli puts on an amazing show, each and every time. He manages to capture a room almost instantly and makes an amazing connection to his audience. For this show he had Zachariah Hickman on bass and Lyle Brewer on guitar (this is the second time I've seen Brewer and wow, this guy is talented.) The show was mesmerizing as usual.
A bonus of attending this show was discovering Jack's Abbey Blood Orange Wheat. Move over Happy Sol! JO and I both agreed that this was a fabulous addition to summer and that the show was a great way to celebrate the beginning of summer in the city!
