The Harvard Bookstore consistently puts together great author events and they make for a fun night out. When I saw that Amy Siskand, author of The List, was doing a talk I got a ticket. The List is a compilation of Siskind's Weekly List in which she tracks all of the ways our democracy is being ruined by the regimen, as she refers to the current administration. The crowd was too large for the bookstore so they hosted the event at an innovative workspace in Harvard Square. Getting to see the space was an added bonus. I love seeing creative work spaces like these.
Even though the weather was horrible, with torrential rains and lightning, the room was packed. Events like this always make me feel better about the current state of affairs because it reminds me just how many people are working together to resist. Siskand's talk was pretty eye opening. I highly recommend checking out her website (linked above) to read some of her lists. It's easy to get complacent but we can't let that happen. She even foreshadowed this crisis at the border a month before it all unfolded.
