My dad needs a new apartment. For a variety of reasons, his current place just isn't working out. Apartment hunting is really, really hard.
For instance, you can call, email, and text lots and lots of contacts and you only get two, maybe three, people to respond.
Along the way you visit really, really, really gross apartments! I decided to start naming them, like they do on those HGTV tvs.
First we went to "Bugs on the Wall." This place was so hot and humid that of course bugs would be everywhere. The kitchen looked so scary I couldn't even go in it. That, and the bugs. Hard no on that one!
Next we visited "Scary Kitchen." Pretty self-explanatory. Another no!
And then I went to "Cat Vomit Special" all by myself. Other than the cat vomit everywhere (What does your cat eat? I have two cats, one of whom does vomit from time to time, but it's little and minor and we actually clean it up!) I actually really liked the place. So yes, I found myself advocating for an apartment covered in cat vomit! That was a new low for me!
Finally, my dad and I visited "Illegal Stairs Straight to Not Paradise." The apartment was billed as a one bedroom, and it actually did have a bedroom but the kitchen was also the living room, and not in the "open floor plan" sense of the word, but like here's the oven and here's where the tv would go. And did I mention the scary stairs. Three flights of super steep, super dimly lit, metal stairs with no railing! Even I struggled.
Amongst all of the apartment hunting I had a lot of time to kill. I hung out at Assembly Row, a place I almost never go because I'd have to drive there and driving isn't fun 😜 I quite enjoyed window shopping and a cappuccino on the patio at Cafe Nero.
Another time I stopped by Idle Hands Tap Room to kill some more time. They scored major points for having a patio. It was such a lovely day that I was "wasting" apartment hunting so it was nice to get to be outside for a bit.
I think we have finally found an apartment- now we just have to orchestrate an August 31st move out and a September 1st move it!
