Living Our Best City Lives!- Seaport Fun and Charles River Boat Rides

How bad was the heatwave?  It was so bad that on Saturday, with the weather in the mid 70s and not an ounce of humidity to be found, pretty much the entire city was outside, including JO and I!  And why wouldn't you be?  After five days of horrifically oppressive heat the ability to move freely around the city without sweating through your clothes was pretty appealing.

After rock climbing, JO and I drove over the mall to catch the Green Line.  The weather was so nice that we decided we would just walk to Faneuil Hall because, why not?  I love that we can walk into Boston (well, when Mother Nature cooperates.)

We walked through Faneuil Hall, to Christopher Columbus Park before hitting up the Harbor Walk.

I love the Harbor Walk.  It's a really easy walk into the Seaport and the views are nice, plus you walk along all of the expensive condo buildings that are beautiful.

When we arrived in the Seaport we talked about grabbing a drink.  We noticed the line for The Lookout at the Envoy was short (and by short I mean like 50 people before it opened) so we headed over there.  The Lookout is definitely the premiere destination in the Seaport.  It's way better than Legal's Harborside because you get a view of the actually city and not the airport/water treatment plant.  It's become a victim of it's own popularity because it's nearly impossible to get on the deck anymore.  We went a few years ago when it opened and got right up, no wait.  Two months later, an hour wait!

If you can get up there, the Lookout is totally worth it!  The views are phenomenal but so is the vibe.  You might think a place with this kind of wait would be kind of upscale and skew a bit young.  On the contrary, it's extremely accessible whether you're a tourist rolling up in your shorts and sneakers or you're looking for a night out on the town.  It's the kind of place you can make your own and I think a lot of that has to do with the fact that it is a hotel bar and that's why I love hotel bars!

After The Lookout we headed over to City Tap for dinner on the patio.  I enjoyed the patio, especially the fact that they have some lounge space with fire pits (note for next time.)

After dinner we walked all the way back to Cambridge to enjoy the twilight cruise on the Charles River.  We decided we needed to take advantage of the weather (see we were traumatized by the heatwave) and squeeze as many fun city things into the day as possible.

I love the Charles River cruise!  It's super easy.  It leaves and ends at the mall.  You get some great views of the Boston skyline and the twilight cruise makes for amazing twinkling lights off of the buildings.

Another day of living our best city lives!  We really are so lucky to live here and we both know it!
