Fireworks!

This heatwave has really gotten to me.  I've basically been trapped inside since Monday.  We tried to go out for dinner on Tuesday.  We had to wait until almost 8:00 because it was so hot outside and neither of us could face the wall of heat that awaited us when we opened our door!  I was concerned about walking to Ole (all of five minutes away) but decided to try anyways.  It was HOT! And when we got there, they didn't have any air conditioning!  We decided to continue on to Thirsty Scholar (maybe five more minutes down the road) but I had to bail at Parlor Sports because it was too hot to go on!  It was just brutal!

I had really been looking forward to going down to the river for the fireworks but I couldn't muster the energy to go out in the heat.  The fireworks don't start until 10:30 and thankfully, around 9:30 JO convinced me to go.  I'm so glad we went!  I love taking advantage of the city life and I always feel a sense of regret when we miss something.

Despite the late start, we got a perfect spot in front of the barge right along the railing.  This red, white, and blue reflection was actually accidental- the red from the Sheraton sign, the white lights from the large building, and blue from the crane that was lit up.

As usual, the fireworks were spectacular and it was just so nice to see so many people out and about having fun!

Plus, it only took us twenty minutes to get home :-)  I'm so glad we went.  My City Meter was running real low!
