Midnight Yoga by Candlelight

One thing I really like about our new rock gym, Brooklyn Boulders, are the neat events they put on.  When I saw a poster advertising midnight yoga by candlelight with live music I couldn't resist.  I was a little hesitant because it was on a Friday night and I'm usually pretty exhausted on Friday nights but I decided to suck it up and I'm glad I did.

It was absolutely frigid outside so JO was nice enough to drop me off and pick me up which was really nice.  I wasn't sure where in the gym the event would take place.  I was pleasantly surprised to find that they had closed off the entire back climbing area for the event.  It was really neat to be doing yoga while surrounded by the climbing walls.  There were lots of candles all over the place and it made for a really cool setting for a yoga class.

The yoga class was a mix of regular yoga and some other thing, I can't remember the name of, where you just jump up and down for 12 minutes and literally "shake it out."  I was a bit skeptical when the instructor explained that part to us but it was actually pretty awesome!

The really great part of the night was the live singer that accompanied the instructor.  He had a really great voice, and some neat instruments.

After the class was over there was even a Taza chocolate tasting!  I really hope the gym decides to host this event again.  I will definitely sign up.
