Remember that awesome supermarket we found on Sunday, we went on Monday and it was glorious. The experience reminded me of the time, many years ago, during a really bad winter when my friend and I found a perfectly plowed street. I remember the relief I felt that day. It had snowed like five times in four weeks and parking was so stressful. Then we found this street and it gave me hope. That's how I felt when we went shopping yesterday.
Our last few trips to the grocery store were really challenging. We were faced with empty shelves, long lines, and despair. Grocery shopping is scary, being out in the world like that is scary, and not meeting with success was really depressing. When we saw this store on Sunday it gave us hope so we decided to try it out. We also had an added challenge- time constraint. We had exactly 50 minutes in between our various Google Meets and video chats.
There were no lines, everything we needed was in stock, and we were home with a few minutes to spare before our meetings. We probably looked crazy because we were shopping "Supermarket Sweep" style. We were tag teaming the list, shouting across the aisles, and rushing frantically. We both remarked over and over how nice the trip was and how hopeful it was.
A friend posted this Tweet and it has really stuck with me. I agree 100% with this. I don't honestly know how I was functioning in my old life.
