On Day 35 I Learned How to Make Mojitos

On Day 35 I learned how to make mojitos because I missed them.  I had to go to the grocery store anyways, so while I was there I picked up a significant amount of limes and mint.  (I can't believe how scary it feels to go grocery shopping.  Although I am thrilled to see the Whole Foods employees in full on face shields it's all very dystopian feeling.  And why can't I find chicken anywhere?)

When I got home I googled some recipes and combined two that I found interesting.  Here's the recipe and here's the video I used.  I upped the mint levels because I love a minty mojito so I started with eight mint leaves and I made sure to clap them in the palm of my hand like the guy in the video to release the essential oils.  I also made my own simple syrup, which was surprisingly simple.  Some of the recipes I saw involved just scooping sugar into the glass and I've never seen one made that way so I would highly recommend the simple syrup route.  For my first try at at home mojito making, I think I was pretty successful.  These were delicious and I'm already planning on making some more tonight!

I like that I'm relearning some cooking recipes and learning new skills like mojito making during this time.  I've really tried to see this time as an opportunity and I think I've been pretty successful at it.  I hate that the world is suffering and that our president is horribly mismanaging all of this but I am grateful for the reset opportunity.
